Why is Alexa called Alexa

I can’t claim that I actually asked the internet this question.  Instead, my 2 kids with intriguing brains asked me it.  I went on a search.

Here is what I found:

Amazon developers chose the name Alexa because it has a hard consonant with the X, which helps it be recognized with higher precision.

If any of you all remember past voice dictation software, it was horrific!  I used Dragon Dictation software when I first started practicing physical therapy and dropped it — I could type significantly faster with less errors.

Back to Alexa – the higher precision piece really struck a chord with me.  We want this technology to recognize when we activate it’s listening mode, but more importantly, to have high precision on giving us exact answers.

I am not sure about you all – but voice software is now very precise, even with our accents and manners of speaking.

Unfortunately, our field of physical therapy is going the opposite direction with our main ingredient of exercise.

Exercise is routinely being prescribed to help with pain.  I am sure many of you have looked up exercise on social or via google to find some yourself.

Some work and some do not.  Usually when they do not work, it is because they are ‘standard’, ‘conventional’ or even ‘typical’.

At PhysioFit, we strive to be the opposite of this.  It is in our framework and why patients get better with our care and not elsewhere.

We call this “Feel it to Heal it Physio” and it is the framework that we use to keep you from needing injections, surgery and pain pills.

This is how we recognize you with a higher precision analyses for a more thorough treatment.
