Green ZonesYour body is like a chess queen Posted on September 16, 2025 by Physiofit Your body is like a chess queen I was recently teaching my youngest how to play chess. The initial stage of teaching her was to describe how each chess piece works in regards to the direction it can go on a square board. Due to all the game pieces being able to maneuver differently, this process can be very confusing, for me as a 40 year old but especially for a 6 year old mind! When I got to describe the most powerful piece — the queen — it got me thinking of how the human fascial system works. Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fiber and muscle in place. The unique thing with fascia is that it has been proven to be connected from the head to the toe! This means that tension in your big toe could influence your neck! This has significant influence on how you can improve pain and move better. The other unique thing with fascia is that not only does it run forward/backward, but also side-to-side and diagonals. We call these roads “front line”, “back line” and “spinal line”. The queen moves much like fascia. She can go forward/backward, side-to-side, and diagonal. Capitalizing on your queen’s movement can be the difference in winning and losing in chess. Capitalizing on your fascia movement in all directions can be the difference in winning and losing with feeling better. This is how we examine and treat the body. We not only are able to treat the local area of pain, but also think of the fascia lines further away that could be the root cause of your symptoms. This is also why we created our 6 Green Zones. It is a way to examine and then treat the most affected areas in your body to improve your movement on the board of life.
