Instead of struggling to stay young, why not learn to age well?

Instead of struggling to stay young, why not learn to age well?

I’m just as guilty as anyone of thinking how quickly life flies by as I am past 40.  The average lifespan of a male in America is 73 years.

I’m over halfway through, strictly speaking!

But I’ve changed my mindset from not wanting to age to taking steps to age as naturally and healthily as I can. For me, it is about maximizing functional health with each passing year.

Here are several evidence based strategies on how to live longer:

  1. Don’t smoke
  2. Don’t drink too much
  3. Eat a diverse and balanced diet
  4. Avoid ultra-processed foods
  5. Stay socially active with friends and acquaintances.

    and finally…

  6. Try to move each day – even if just walking – and maintain muscle mass.

From a movement-based standpoint as a physical therapist, I like to make #6 even more specific.

That is why I created the 6 Green zones.

These are 6 movements to screen and test your symmetry, side to side balance and proper muscle engagement.  These areas directly correlate to age-related degenerative regions in the human body, your neck, your low back, your hips and knees.

If you keep these green zones in tip top shape, then you should have less wear and tear on the age-related degenerative regions that come with living longer.

We just want to help you live and feel better.

You can learn more about our symmetry and balance method for the entire body by reading about our 6 Green Zones.
