Our Hamstring Tendinopathy Program in Wake Forest is designed to calm pain, restore tendon health, and return you to running, lifting, or sport.
Tendons respond to progressive mechanical loading, not rest alone. Our program is built around three core principles:
Calm the irritation
Restore tendon capacity
Rebuild athletic performance
Every session is 1-on-1 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, ensuring precision in loading, exercise selection, and progression.
In early stages, the tendon is sensitive to compression and excessive stretch. We focus on:
Isometric loading to reduce pain sensitivity
Modifying sitting and training loads
Avoiding aggressive stretching
Addressing hip and pelvic mechanics
The goal is to decrease reactive symptoms while keeping the tendon active.
Once pain is more stable, we progressively load the tendon through:
Heavy slow resistance training
Controlled hip hinge progressions
Single-leg loading
Gradual exposure to deeper hip flexion
Tendons need consistent, progressive load to remodel. This stage is critical and often where long-term recovery happens.
For runners and athletes, we reintroduce:
Speed and stride length exposure
Acceleration and deceleration drills
Plyometrics (when appropriate)
Sport-specific loading
We carefully build capacity so you can tolerate hills, sprinting, and longer mileage without flare-ups.
