Our Achilles Tendinopathy Program in Wake Forest is designed to calm pain, restore tendon health, and return you to running, lifting, or sport.
If you’re dealing with persistent pain in the back of your heel or lower calf — especially during walking, running, jumping, climbing stairs, or first steps in the morning — you may be experiencing Achilles tendinopathy.
At PhysioFit of NC, our Achilles Tendinopathy Program is designed to reduce pain, restore calf strength, and rebuild tendon capacity through fully individualized, one-on-one physical therapy sessions.
We follow a simple principle:
Calm the tendon. Strengthen the tendon. Build resilience.
Your care is always delivered in a private, 1-on-1 setting with a Doctor of Physical Therapy — no techs, no double-booking, no cookie-cutter protocols.
We evaluate:
Ankle mobility
Calf strength and endurance
Single-leg loading capacity
Foot mechanics
Gait and running form (if applicable)
Tendon irritability level
Early management may include:
Isometric loading to reduce tendon sensitivity
Modifications to walking, running, and workouts
Footwear guidance
Activity adjustments to prevent overload
We gradually introduce:
Heavy slow resistance training
Eccentric and concentric calf strengthening
Single-leg loading progressions
Plyometric progression (when appropriate)
Return-to-running or sport-specific drills
We address:
Faulty landing mechanics
Ankle stiffness or limited dorsiflexion
Hip and knee compensation patterns
Running gait inefficiencies
Our Achilles Tendinopathy Program is ideal for:
Runners with persistent heel pain
Active adults with pain during walking or stairs
Athletes struggling with push-off power
Individuals with chronic “Achilles tightness” that won’t resolve
People told to “just stretch it” without improvement
