Green ZonesPuppy-dog eyes Posted on September 16, 2025 by Physiofit Puppy-dog eyes New research has shown that tiny muscles around the eyes and mouth of dogs are more similar in dogs and humans than in dogs and wolves. Yes, dog faces have more similar muscles to us than wolves What does this mean? Communicating with facial expressions is fundamental to humans. This may be one reason why dogs were selected as pets. We just could not resist puppy-dog eyes. Know what else is fundamental to humans? Walking upright on 2 feet. One of the theories of why humans have such high prevalence of back pain, sciatica and pelvic problems is that we are upright on 2 feet instead of on all 4’s like dogs. We do this to be efficient — until it isn’t efficient anymore. Through aging, mannerisms, and our repetitive daily tasks (think computer work) —> walking upright on 2 feet is not as efficient so we compensate until our bodies do not like that anymore —> pain is our body’s “I do not like you” signal to change something. The change could be chiropractic adjustments, stretching or strengthening. Yes, they all can be effective. But if you want to regain maximal efficiency, then fixing 3 of your green zones can be a better solution. These 3 of our 6 green zones are areas in the lower body that should work, work equally and symmetrically, and work without us giving much thought to it. Keeping these muscle groups strong and activating properly is key to efficiency, decrease pain and ultimately keep us walking upright on 2 feet. We can test your green zones in the clinic and provide a plan to put you physically back together. Your body will thank you. Your puppy will even thank you.
