Over 1300 participants and an enlightening TED talk that has garnered over 45 million views. Here are 5 profound lessons for you. Lesson 1: Happiness is most profoundly influenced by the quality of our relationships. Strong and supportive connections with family, friends, and community lead to a longer and more fulfilling life. Lesson 2: Your emotional well-being directly impacts your overall health. Prioritize self-care, seek therapy if needed, and prioritize your mental well-being as you would your physical health. Lesson 3: Gratitude is more powerful than you think. Expressing gratitude regularly for the small joys in life increases our overall sense of well-being. Take a moment each day to appreciate the blessings in your life, big and small. Lesson 4: Find your purpose. Discover what truly inspires you, align your actions with your values, and pursue activities that bring you fulfillment. Lesson 5: Your physical health matters. Adopt a healthy lifestyle – eat nutritious food, engage in regular exercise, and prioritize sleep. Nurturing your physical health sets the foundation for a vibrant and joyful life. I left lesson 5 for last because this is what we, as physical therapists, specialize in. We hope to fill in the gap with whatever is needed to help you engage in regular exercise, walk the dog, climb up steps, rake your yard, or simply get up and down from your chair easier. I can’t say we will never prevent a fall, avoid an injury, or make you feel like you’re not getting older! But, I can promise that if you’re stronger, more flexible, more confident, and more aware of the physical body you are in everyday, you will ultimately have more happiness in the physical aspect of your life.
